She is so beautiful and she loves me!

So the other morning this beautiful young lady whom I love surprised me by waking me up at 5:00am (in the morning!) and then asking if I'd like to go watch the sunrise with her. Isn't that amazing! So Sarah Weber and I and my wonderful sister Gennie (who was in on the plan) drove down to the Mississippi river to watch a beautiful sunrise together. The sunrise was beautiful and lovely but it did not compare to watching Sarah's beautiful face and looking at her lovely eyes. She is beyond all compare.

Even though watching a sunrise together was on our to do list it was completely surprise to me that it would be that morning, BUT I was ready and out the door in 5 minutes or less! No way was I going to miss this. So that would explain the crazy hair. Sarah's is lovely of course, just how it should be on a morning to watch the sunrise.

Thank you again to Gennie for making the morning possible (and for taking the pictures).
And thank you again to my beloved, who loves me so much, for such a wonderful gift. I love you.

Trail notes #1 - Aslan is on the move!

Hello All! Here is my first update on how the Lord is leading me on this journey to RGBI.

Just like the lion Aslan began to break the spell of winter as he came to reclaim his kingdom. The Lord is moving and building his church, his kingdom! It is very exciting to be a part of that no matter how small my part may be, to know that as I offer myself up to the Lord and give myself to him he is FAITHFUL to use me in the building of his church!

So how has the Lord worked in and around me the last two months? The Lord has begun to build my support team! He has graciously given me a prayer support family and he has been steadily giving me opportunities to speak and to share with others about the work he has for me at the Rio Grande Bible Institute.

Since my last letter I have tried to formulated into words the vision and mission the Lord has given me.

My Mission is:
To see the gospel at work around the world,
to further it using my photography and video skills
And then using those same skills
to report back to the church
what the Lord is doing to build his kingdom

This vision the Lord has given me has been in process ever since 2010 when I took my professional (big black) camera with me to Mexico for the first time. The Lord continues to amaze me at how he has brought the Rio Grande Bible Institute’s need together with my desire to serve in this way. One example of this is that RGBI is considering how they could use video to record live classes for use in training those Hispanics who cannot come to the school. I am excited to be a part of enabling this new way to train. I will continue to follow in faith and trust that this partnership process will continue once I actually get to RGBI and put my hands to work!

So far the Lord has used individuals, prayer groups, churches, Baptist associations, a youth group, VBS, missionaries, and former missionaries to partner with me in raising support! Last Tuesday I shared with a small group prayer meeting that meets in a friend’s home. They gave me as much time as I wanted and asked really good questions afterward! The group seemed to give serious consideration to the idea of financial support and partnership in this way, even though as Southern Baptists (like myself) they were not as familiar with the idea of an individual building their own support team. I praise God for the lovely fellowship and partnership that can be found within the body of Christ even at the beginning of a new relationship. I am currently at 10% of the monthly support needed for me to begin work at RGBI.

So Praise God! And pray that he will continue his work! If you are willing to hear more and to consider whether this would be an opportunity for you or those you know to partner in the work of the gospel, please contact me! The church is the army of the Lord! Let us strategize and consider how we may move in step with the Captain’s commands!

Your servant in the Lord,
Billy Jackson

The Lord leads! Step by step

I was able to make my first missions presentation at First Baptist church of Centerville on March 17th, and I will be presenting again on April 6th to a meeting of Reynolds County Baptist association (Southern Baptist association). Praise God for the gracious opportunities right here at the start. It is awesome that he is already leading me to those who are ready and willing to hear about The Rio Grande Bible Inst. and my part in the work there.

Two support letters have been sent out. A introductory letter explaining about RGBI and my part, and a more detailed letter explaining what support I need to gather and how people can join my team by pledging regular support.
"Introductory" Letter"Pastor recommendation" letter"Details of support" Letter,

The Lord has given to me a "Praying Family". A family of people who will endeavor to be used by God to further the kingdom through the ministry of prayer. They are my prayer warriors! It is awesome to be able to send out an email letting a group of people know of a need, and knowing that it will be lifted up in prayer to our Lord. Praise God for his faithfulness in this way, and pray that my "Praying Family" would be encouraged and spurred on in their ministry, their work in the Kingdom. (You know, I have a description for my prayer team adapted from L'abri's statements. I wonder, should I should come up with a description for my financial team?)

So the next steps? The support letters are out, I have gotten a good start in presenting, the first at the church and another one coming at the meeting. And now, with much prayer and the Lord's grace, I will begin to follow up with the contacts the Lord brings to me. Will you join my team of supporters? Be part of this ministry? And send me to work at the Rio Grande Bible Institute?

Please pray with me that the Lord would bring opportunities to share with people, churches, groups, and that He would partner me with those who are ready to joyfully be a part of this ministry with me. I am looking for people who are willing to listen and to evaluate whether this would be a worthy investment for the Kingdom of heaven, and then if the Lord leads them, to be a TEAM with me. A team that will back me, help hold me accountable, and who will rejoice with me in the victories and accomplishments of RGBI.

Sunrise on the Mississippi

Just wanted to share some beauty of the Lord's creation with you all. I know I've been slow on here to update with what the Lord is doing in leading me to work at the Rio Grande Bible Institute. Look for an update to come soon. If you want updates about prayer needs, ways to support, or just want to hear more first hand about RGBI, contact me! I would be glad to share with you directly about the work the Lord is doing.
Otherwise hang on! An update is coming. Stuff HAS been happening. The Lord DEFINITELY has been moving me forward in this journey he has set before my feet.

Meanwhile, enjoy some beauty. This Sunrise hmm... was on March 20th I believe. Over looking the Mississippi river, and with a barge/tugboat obligingly making it's appearance.

Watch the video or just look at the pictures. I hope they're even a tenth as much fun to watch as they were to capture.

RGBI's "Video Hope"

One of the Rio Grande Bible Institute's ministries is "Video Hope" is one of the tools that the Rio Grande Bible Institute uses to train and equip men and women for the work of the gospel.

While RGBI has students from 15 different countries who have come to the school for Bible training, there are Spanish speakers in over 25 different countries around the world who have received biblical training through RGBI's dvd courses.

While most of these countries are those you would expect... Mexico, US, Chile, Spain... some are definitely not what you would expect! Japan, Siberia, Australia, Germany! There are Spanish speakers all across the globe now.

Part of what makes working at RGBI exciting is that I'm not just going to be helping send the gospel to South and Central America, I'm going to be part of a work that is sending the gospel all over the world! And not just to Spanish speakers. Our Latino brothers and sisters in Christ are training up and sending missionaries to all kinds of people and places!

And this Video Hope, this part of the Bible training that I get to be a part of, is for training those brothers and sisters who cannot leave to come to the school, either because they cannot afford it, or can't enter the US, OR because there is already a church that they are pastoring and they cannot leave the ministry God has placed them in.

A major part of the work that I will be doing at RGBI, by the Lord's grace, will be helping to make more and better dvd training courses, and helping RGBI to record live classroom sessions.

Please pray for me that I would have the tools, the skills, and the wisdom to help RGBI in this project of giving hope to the nations through their video dvd courses.

A reflection on Prayer from 1Chron 29

So I was invited to write a blog post for the Psalm 67 Missions Network blogsite. I was asked to write something about prayer. What ended up happening was a dumping of my thoughts about a passage of scripture that had recently grabbed my attention. It was a prayer of King David's after the giving of gifts for the building of the temple.

If you would like to read it I invite you to do so,

I hope it is encouraging to you.

Accepted to the Rio Grande Bible Institute

THE RIO GRANDE BIBLE INSTITUTE has accepted my application!

Hello! It's been half a year since I last posted.

It has been a long process. I started the process of applying to RGBI way back. I can't even remember when it was last year that I officially started the process.
Anyway, may of you know that a major portion of this blog has been about my journey in using my skills (in photography and video as well as whatever other skills I have) in missions. Well the LORD has moved me in a new direction. He has opened the door for full time work, using video and photography to further the work of the Gospel!

Instead of me trying to retype and re-word everything here's a link to my support letter. I've written an introductory support letter to help tell people what's up, and explain the new work.

"Dear family in Christ, ..." (click to view letter)

Please read the letter, and feel free to comment if you have any questions or ideas! From here I hope to use this blog to track and to reveal how the LORD works and moves me to his purposes; how he gets me to RGBI, how he uses me there, how he sustains me (how I survive language school!).
Please read the letter and then... wait with me to see the Lord unfold my next step!
