"Lord prepare us for your Mission Texas"

So even now as I pray and consider questions from the Christian Life Conference I am looking ahead with lots of excitement to our second mission trip to the Rio Grande Valley in Mission Texas.  The Lord has been answering our prayer for a team. It is very exciting for me to see the team forming up and getting ready. We will be having a team meeting Saturday for all who can attend and two at least will be sitting in via Google+ hangout. My good friends Christian Brandon and Blake Pollock from Wisconsin will be part of the team. I am very excited to get to work with them. I do not believe either of them has done mission work in this context before. I got to spend time with both of them while I was in Wisconsin and talk about the trip.

Pray for us as we work to sort out the details that come with taking a larger group. Details such as travel plans (rising gas prices, the fact that the van is only seats 7 not 11, etc.) still need to be sorted out. We will find out in two days whether or not we will receive the $1000 scholarship from Kurt Warner's "First Things First" foundation so you can pray for that.

If you are unfamiliar with the area of Mission Texas in the Rio Grande Valley (which I would bet that for the most part you are) and are still want to know more about why we are going, I encourage you to first find it on Google maps (pretty easy to do). Mission is very near the city of McAllen.
Then watch this video to get a feel for the area and what Psalm 67's involvement there is.

  • Please pray for our team as we leave March 8th. Please pray for our effectiveness in communicating the gospel through our words AND our actions. Pray that we would have servant hearts and ready to serve hands. Pray that as the "newness" wares off we would still be loving to these kids.
  • Please pray for me. I plan on meeting with the Rio Grande Bible institute while I am down there to discuss the position of Videographer for the school that is currently open. It is a volunteer position (you have to raise your own support as a missionary). Please pray that God will give me wisdom as I investigate. This could be an awesome open door that the Lord is leading me to, or it could not be what he has for me. It is very exciting to think about though.
  • Please also continue to pray for me as I consider taking on the task of editing the video from the conference in Wisconsin.
  • Please pray for Gary Northcutt who is working in England on a project right now. He has encountered server frustrating obsticals and has asked for continued prayer that the Lord would bless his work, his team, and allow him to finish on schedule (which may be a miracle at this point)

Home safe from Wisconsin

The Christian Life Conference in Wisconsin was a wonderful time!

The Team that did the ground work to make the conference possible (at least part of the team. at a conference like this the whole entirety of everyone is part of the team)

Thank you everyone for your prayers! I know we had people from all over in Missouri, Wisconsin, and in more places praying for us. The time with the Rhoe family and the Pollocks was awesome. BIG Thanks the the Rhoe family for making me right at home in their home during the conference. Everything from the Nerf war with Jonny, to pingpong in the living room, to going sledding at 10:30 at night and building a snow man, where else can I find hospitality like that! And then the Pollocks, cherry on top they go get out the coffee maker just for me the only person in the house who drinks coffee. Thanks to the loving hospitality of these two families and others I had no need or lack of anything. I did not spend a single cent during the whole time with them.
And then another cherry on top, at the airport or won a paper airplane making contest while waiting to board the plane. Won a $25 gift voucher towards my next flight with Southwest. Go figure lol!

So the conference itself went very well I think. Keep praying for the people who came. Pray that they will take back what they have heard and make it a part of their life.
I believe that the video went well. Again thank you for all your prayers for me as I worked. Besides the all the messages, we also did some interviews, and I captured plenty of footage of people as they interacted outside of the messages.

So, PRAY now. I know I keep saying that. I am praying and considering taking on the editing work for the conference. It is a thought that has daunted me little. I think that it would be a good training and learning experience for me. I think it would be a very good service, the messages would be very useful and the video for the conference and the interviews would be useful. The question is, am I able to devote the time necessary to complete the project? Not just start it. But complete it and complete it well. There is no time crunch or quick turnaround need for the videos, never the less I believe I would probably have to take some time off from work for my dad. Even with no definite dead line I would not want the project to drag on indefinitely. So pray for me as I consider the job and what I may be able to do so that I can take it on.

Again, BIG shout out to all the people in Wisconsin that made the conference so enjoyable. Everyone praise the LORD for his truth that was spoken during the conference. Thanks to Norm Wakefield, Dave Arevalo, and Eric Skelton for bringing the word to us. Thank you Norm for the ride back to the airport and the enjoyable conversation. Thank you Mike Rhoe for being the visionary leader and a constant reminder to go to the Lord in prayer.

Stay tuned for video and footage. Whether I am able to edit all or some or none of the actual messages I will be working on some of the side videos Particularly a music video of "All of Me" played by Anthony, a sixteen year old with tons of talent.

Blessed by the saints

I really want every one back home to see this! Everyone should bring the family of Christ into their home like this!

Sorry that this is just slapped together but I wanted people to see it.

We had an awesome discussion in 1 Cor chapter 1 after worship.

Later I will show some of the fun with the ping pong table.

Blessed by my family in Wisconsin

I was blessed tonight! I have arrived in Wisconsin and spent the evening in worship, bible study and christian fellowship at the home of the family I am staying at. It was awesome to see how the living room was also the fellowship hall for dinner, and then transformed into the sanctuary for worship. I was very blessed by the word too. 1 Cor 1:4 is was stood out to me most.
and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power
I need to learn this demonstration of the Spirit and of power. I thought about how it is so easy to stumble into pride thinking that it will be through my words of wisdom that someone is changed but really is only be the Spirit. The topic of pride and bringing the message really resonated with me tonight because I have been think on how do I respond to people and discuss with people over the internet, people who I know will never change their position (whether they be mormon or muslim or baptist) based on my arguments. So how do I demonstrate the Spirit and the power of God?

So know that I am blessed. Pray that God would continue to bless us and prepare us for the conference that starts on Fri.

I did get some video of us worshiping a little and some video of hillbilly pingpong with a plank for a table and some plastic for a net. I felt cheap just slapping the footage together and putting it up so I am going to wait and see if I can get something together tomorrow. That is a downside to video as opposed to photography. It takes more time to make it look right.

Pray!

On the GO! To Wisconsin and then back to Texas

The Lord has been working. He is always at work and he has allowed us to see some of what he is doing.

Tomorrow (Wed 2-22) I leave for Wisconsin to head up the video at the Christian Life Conference. http://www.christianlifeconference.com/  Please pray that the Lord would give me skillful hands and that I would do good work in capturing this conference, not only the messages, but the christian fellowship and spirit lead atmosphere as well. This is a BIG endeavor for me. To capture an event on camera is one thing. To capture what the blessing of christian fellowship feels and looks like is quite another thing.
Pray that the Lord would pour out his spirit through the speakers and the worship and the fellowship. I am very excited that I get to stay with a christian family I know while I'm there along with others on the team that are helping with the logistical groundwork of the conference. It has already been pressed upon me though, and I whole heartedly agree, that all our striving is nothing unless the Lord is in it and he sends his spirit. I am really excited to be a part of a team that thinks like this!

While I am in Wisconsin I will be able to meet and catch up with some friends who, in the Lord's providence, will be coming with us on the next mission trip to Texas, which starts March 9th. Pray for this. It does appear that the Lord is blessing us with the larger team that we have been praying for. Specifically we have been praying for 10 or 11 teammates to go with us this time.
Pray for this up coming trip to Texas through Psalm 67 Mission Network http://www.facebook.com/pages/Psalm-67-Missions-Network/350902765601   There will likely be many more kids this time, and of course there will be new challenges. We are all very much looking forward to what the Lord is going to do. We need to be in prayer though. We need a base support of people that will rise up and go with us in prayer, even now as we are preparing.
Aaron Sutton and Rick have just returned from Texas and will be sending out an update soon I hope. And I will be able to give your more particulars for the trip and how to pray. For now pray that God would prepare our hearts to work hard in humility and service, and that God would prepare the hearts of the children and the church and the families in Mission Texas.

Stay tuned for more news from Wisconsin! This is the first time for me doing this. My first time being in charge of more than one videographer (more than just me). So pray for me. I will try to do a good job keeping you updated.

Can I ask for a few more prayer requests?

  • Pray that more people would be draw to community prayer. (yes you can do that. It's kind of like desiring to desire God more) This is a strength of the church that is very neglected.
  • Pray for a Missionary in Togo Africa, Benjamin Bonni. Pray that the Lord would provide for his family in a way that allows him to continue ministering to the lost and the church. His prayer is that God would provide the funds so that he can do full time ministry. Also pray that he can get good christian books. The church there has very few books and he has little way to get more.
  • Pray for Gary Northcutt who is working in England right now. Pray that the Lord would bless his work helping him finish the work he has given him to do.  http://www.northcutt8.blogspot.com/
